Job Title: Youth Drama Director (Grades 4–8)

Type: Part-Time / Contract (September–April, annual commitment)
Hours: Tuesdays, 6:00–8:00 PM
About CWCD Club
The CWCD Club runs two dynamic drama groups for local children in grades 4 to 8, inspiring young
people across Wellington County to explore their creativity through theatre. Participants engage in
drama games, exercises, and storytelling techniques while working toward a polished performance for
their peers and the community each spring.
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and passionate Youth Drama Director to lead our Tuesday night drama
groups. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with the current director from January to April,
ensuring a smooth transition before taking on full leadership for the following season.
The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in community-based theatre and a desire to
nurture confidence, teamwork, and imagination in young performers.
Key Responsibilities
-Prepare and lead engaging rehearsals with acting and improvisation games, voice and movement exercises, and creative storytelling activities.
-Select or write an age-appropriate script for the group’s annual spring performance.
-Guide participants in developing their performance skills, character work, and stage presence.
-Develop an overall creative vision for the production, including tone, style, and thematic focus.
-Collaborate with the producer to manage budgets in alignment with the production’s goals.
-Lead and organize rehearsals, providing direction, feedback, and encouragement.
-Oversee all elements of staging — including blocking, pacing, line delivery, and basic technical coordination (sound and lighting).
-Work closely with the production team to coordinate set, costume, and technical elements.
Qualifications
-Experience in theatre directing, drama instruction, or youth arts programming.
-Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-Ability to inspire and engage children through creative, positive instruction.
-Background in theatre arts, education, or related field (an asset).
-Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive environment.
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed based on experience and program budget.
